Pregnancy, birth, and the breastfeeding relationship between a mother and her child are transformative.  The birthing year is a journey and a time of discovery for every family.  As a birth doula and lactation educator I have faith in a woman's inner knowledge, and I believe in supporting a mother on whatever path she decides to choose.  

The birth process is inherent to our beings and can be wonderfully natural, however, it is also important to be aware of the positive choices that can be made to enhance the experience.

Breastfeeding Education and Support

Breastfeeding is the most natural way to feed and nurture your baby.  Nothing is more beautiful than to see a newborn baby successfully latch-on and nourish his or her tiny body for the first time.  Both babies and mothers need to learn new skills in the early days and weeks of breastfeeding and sometimes challenges can occur.  Many families have found that it can be very helpful to prepare for their breastfeeding relationship as they would prepare for the birth of their baby, by learning various techniques and becoming aware of potential challenges.  Even with a few setbacks a mother can go on to have a wonderful extended breastfeeding relationship with her baby.
